Legal IssuesFederal and State laws make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of political affiliation, race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or national origin. It is important that interviewers avoid asking questions which in any way relate to these factors. As long as the interview focuses on job-related areas and the interviewers cover the same areas with all candidates, legal problems should be minimal or non-existent.
