Procedure for Recommending Academic Staff for Indefinite Status
(Includes Limited Appointees with Academic Staff Backup)
- The department or nominating unit sends ten copies of the recommendation and supporting materials to the appropriate Dean/Director.
- If the Dean/Director supports the request, he/she retains one copy and forwards nine to the Chair of the appropriate Area Review Committee for review and recommendation.
- After review, the Area Review Committee keeps one copy of the materials and forwards the rest to the Dean/Director along wtih their recommendation and vote.
- If the Area Review Committee is in favor, the Dean/Director forwards one copy of the materials, including a copy to the Area Reveiw Committee's vote and cover letter with their recommendation, to the Chancellor via the Academic Personnel Office, 174 Bascom Hall.
- When approved, the Chancellor notifies the employee, the Secretary of Academic Staff, and the Chair of the Area Review Committee that indefinite status will be granted.
- The Area Review Committee may then destroy the packets of supporting materials. A copy may be placed in the employees personnel file and the Academic Personnel Office keeps an archival copy of the packet.
- The Dean/Director's office updates IADS.
