Summer Salary Support In Excess of 2/9ths

for C-Basis Faculty and Academic Staff Approval Process

 

Policy

  • UW-Madison and UW System policies do not allow any faculty or academic staff appointee on a C basis (9-month) appointment to exceed eight months of summer salary over any three-year period.
  • Prior approval must be received from the Dean for any summer appointment in excess of 2/9 salary, as required by the UW System Academic Planning Statement #4.

  • All summer appointments for C basis employees in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in excess of 2/9 salary must be approved by the CALS' Dean's office
    prior to the start of the appointment.

Forms

  • Available from the CALS Office of Human Resources, 5-6418 or the Academic Personnel Office, 3-2511. "Departmental Report on Summer Payment of Funds administered by the UW-Madison of More than Two-Ninths of the Academic Year." APO Appendix 11-B.

Procedures

  • Departments should notify CALS Office of Human Resources for approval prior to making a summer appointment in excess of 2/9ths. Email notification may be used in lieu of the campus form.

Approval will be sent by return email message or by return of the campus form.

The CALS Office of Human Resources will file the required report to APO of all college summer appointments in excess of 2/9ths.
