The Louis and Elsa Thomsen Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowships will be awarded on a College-wide basis for the 2013-14 academic year. These fellowships were established by the estate of Elsa Thomsen and are designated to support graduate students who have established an outstanding research record.
Nominations may be submitted by CALS department graduate programs and by any interdepartmental graduate program in which CALS faculty participate. Each program is limited to one nominee. The nominee's major advisor must have a tenured or tenure-leading appointment in a CALS department.
Nominees must be Ph.D. candidates who have not exceeded five years in their current graduate studies before application deadline and who hold dissertator status (must have passed their preliminary exam and be enrolled as a dissertator) before the fellowship begins. In programs where a master of science is the terminal degree, nominees should have completed one year of graduate study as of the beginning of the academic year in which the fellowship would be held.
Award packages include tuition and fees coverage, health insurance eligibility, and a stipend.
