The American Academy of Arts and Sciences invites applications for its 2013–2014 scholars-in-residence program. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Academy is an international research policy institute composed of distinguished members from science, the humanities, social science, business, public affairs, and the arts.
The Academy seeks proposals in the humanities and social sciences relating to American history, culture, and public policy from the founding period to the present.
Preference will be given to untenured faculty; postdoctoral scholars are also eligible. Junior faculty receive up to $60,000 for the academic year (usually the equivalent of one-half salary); postdoctoral students receive up to $40,000. Candidates who are completing scholarly manuscripts are especially welcome. Visiting Scholars have the opportunity to participate in conferences, seminars, and events at the Academy while advancing their scholarly research. The Academy provides office space and computer services at its Cambridge headquarters as well as library privileges in cooperation with the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard University.
