Autism is a complex and heterogeneous disease the etiology of which likely includes both genetic and environmental factors. The goal of this RFA is to stimulate research on the role of the environment in the etiology of autism spectrum disorders. Autism Speaks invites applications for grants to study the role of environmental influences in the etiology, course, prognosis, and pathophysiology of autism spectrum disorders. These proposals will be reviewed by a committee with expertise in environmental sciences, neurotoxicology, and epidemiology, and clinical science.
