- Program Description
The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) announces the availability of research funds aimed at advancing the understanding of the basic and clinical underpinnings of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related disorders. The objective of this announcement is to identify three research proposals that will accompany the ADRC renewal application in May 2013. Each proposal will receive support for 5 years.
Proposals may focus on the following topics of research relevant to AD, but are not limited to:
- Pre-clinical biomarkers
- Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
- Health disparities
- Normal aging research relevant or applicable to AD diagnostics, treatment, etc.
- Disease risk factors
- Molecular neurobiology of the disease
- Neuroimaging in preclinical stages of AD or MCI
- Clinical manifestations
- Treatments (either behavioral or pharmacological interventions)
- Caregiver stress
- Health services research
- End-of-life care
- Behavioral and social aspects of the disease
Applications from any UW/VA faculty track, including a scientist position, will be accepted. Fellow or trainee-led project are ineligible. Applicants are strongly encouraged to utilize the extensive infrastructure of the ADRC; specifically Clinical Core and/or Nueropathology Core resources.
