TBA (last known deadline was August 1, 2012)
The UW-Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention (UW-CTRI) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health was selected as a Research Center of Excellence (P-50) by the National Cancer Institute. An important part of this grant is to stimulate new collaborations with interested investigators from other disciplines to the benefit of the field of tobacco dependence. UW-CTRI has set aside resources to support pilot research projects that will help these investigators gain experience in tobacco, bringing their expertise and training to help solve problems in the field and possibly pursue additional funding for tobacco research in future grant submissions. Support of up to $40,000 is available in the autumn of 2012 for one or two research projects designed to improve the reach of future smoking cessation research and intervention. We anticipate a two-step funding process, including collaborative interaction and consultation between UW-CTRI scientific staff and interested UW researchers in advance of a letter of intent submission by August 1, 2012. Final application submissions are due by September 19, 2012. Interested faculty, scientists, post-doctoral scholars, and graduate students are invited to contact Douglas E. Jorenby, Ph.D. (dej@ctri.medicine.wisc.edu) for more information
