The Fisheries Innovation Fund is a grant program that fosters innovation and supports effective participation of fishermen and fishing communities in the implementation of sustainable fisheries in the US. In April 2011, the first round of the Fund awarded nearly $2.25 million to 18 projects in the northeastern U.S., the Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific coast and Alaska. In April 2012, the second round of the Fund awarded $1.55 million to 18 projects in the Northeast, the mid-Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific coast, Alaska and the Great Lakes.
