When the System Administrator originally creates your account on the CALS Net a password is automatically assigned. This is just a temporary password and should be changed as soon as possible. Changing Your Password 1. Press Ctrl – Alt – Delete. Your desktop icons, toolbar, and running applications will disappear and a dialog box will appear in the center of your screen. The title “Novell Security” can be found at the top of this dialog box. The words “Novell Client for Windows” should be directly below the title, appearing in a larger font. You will also be able to see login information for both NetWare and Windows. Six buttons will be present at the bottom of this dialog box: Lock Workstation, Logout, Shutdown, Change Password, Task List, and Cancel. 2. Click the Change Password button. A new dialog box will appear, titled “Change Password”. On the left side of the new dialog box, a list of available resources will be listed. These are the servers or workstations that you are currently logged into. On the right side there will be fields in which you will enter your new and old passwords. 3. You should see a resource listed called “Wisconsin” (your Novell account) and also a resource for your local machine. By default, both resources should be highlighted so that the password change applies to both. Having the same password for your Novell account and your local account will eliminate the prompt for a Windows login screen after the Novell login screen. 4. Enter your old password, new password and retype your new password as indicated on the screen. Click on OK. Note: your Novell password must adhere to the following:
5. You should then get a message that your password was successfully
changed. Click OK.
