Mission
Mission Statement
To support the research and outreach necessary to develop and evaluate cropping systems and components which are profitable, environmentally sound, resource sustaining, and appropriate to the agriculture, forestry, and natural resources on sandy soils in Wisconsin.
Goals Statement
Support component and system research programs with horticultural, agronomic, and forest crops and to support, within the resources available, the extension of research to demonstrations both on the station and surrounding lands.
Support research programs which develop and quantify the impacts of systems which minimize adverse impacts of cropping systems on environmental quality.
Support irrigation research as both a component and as an interactive part of cropping systems.
Serve as a focal point for contacts among researchers, extension faculty, growers, processors, and service/suppliers to discuss concerns of mutual interest in the agricultural development and management of the central sands area.
Supply needed technical data such as scout reports and evapotranspiration demand for grower decision making.
Cooperate with Extension in outreach programs to effectively transfer information to non-agricultural groups.
