Computing Resources
Students and scientists are welcome to use the Station's computers or bring their own. All computers are networked and Internet connectivity is provided by a high speed (T1) connection. A wireless network provides users with network and Internet access from the Mead Residence Hall, Cabin, Lodge, Kitchen & Dining Hall, Classroom, and Laboratory.
With the wireless network, students, instructors, and researchers are able to go on-line from virtually anywhere on the Station, whether they are examining water samples from Tomahawk Lake or studying nutrient dynamics in Kemp Station's old growth forests.
Station computing equipment includes 24 laptop computers (available for sign-out); black & white and color printers; scanners; and a 1TB networked storage device. Installed software includes Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), R and ArcGIS. Individuals requiring specialized software should contact Karla or Tom prior to their arrival to arrange installation.
