HP 9000
The HP9000 serves both a research and instructional role for CALS. There are over 800 user accounts, 150 of which are instructional accounts. Classes in statistical methods and experimental design incorporate use of the HP9000 into their curriculum. The HP9000 is used primarily for statistical analysis, computer simulations and electronic mail and can be accessed through computers in the facility or the campus TCP/IP Ethernet network. The HP9000 contains two statistical software packages, SAS and SPLUS; various genetics software packages, for example MAPMAKER/QTL and GMENDEL; and two programming languages, FORTRAN and C.
