Day 1: Join the CALS Career Services Community

CALS Career Services is doing the “10 Days of Career Services” again.  Over the next two weeks CALS Career Services will be everywhere trying to help you get a job or an internship. The Ten Days are surrounding the Career Fair and are a road map for how you should prepare for this event.  The Spring Career and Internship Fair is January 31st from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kohl Center.

CALS Career Services is a community determined to help you achieve your professional goals.  The best way we can help you is by getting connected to us.  We have several ways you can stay connected to our events, tips and job postings.

Each day of this 10 day event will also feature a headline that will be a guideline to help you get ready and succeed in your job search.  Today’s headline is “Join the CALS Career Services Community!”  Today we urge CALS students to get connected to what CALS Career Services is doing.  You have already taken the first step in reading this blog, but there is more you can do.

Our Facebook page is the primary place we post information about our events and any interesting information and tips that will help you succeed. Our page is “CALS Career Services-UW Madison” and has over 400 (and growing) students, employers and CALS staff dedicated to sharing professional tips.

Our latest addition has been our twitter page, “@CALS_Careers.” We use twitter to post information about employers and any job postings they may have.  We also post jobs and internships from BuckyNet, making finding a job easier.  Use this great resource to get connected to our contacts and join the conversation.

Probably the most important resource for CALS students to get connected is BuckyNet.  This is a database of jobs and internships that any CALS student can use.  If you already have an account you should enter your BuckyNet page and look at the companies coming to the career fair.  If you can’t remember your password click “forgot password” and an email will be sent to you automatically with your password information.  If you do not have an account you can email CALS Career Services at career@cals.wisc.edu with your name, major, year you plan to graduate and your campus ID and we will create an account for you and send you your password information.

This is also the time to browse all of what our website has to offer.  There are several resources available to students to use and help them succeed.

Join our community! Your career depends on it.
