It’s the Final Countdown!

No, I am not referring to the awesome song released by the Swedish rock band, “Europe” in 1986.   Rather to the “Final Countdown” of events CALS Career Services has planned until graduation next month.  It is the “Final Countdown” to when you need to have an internship, lab position or a job.  Here are the upcoming events focused on helping you achieve this goal in the period of the “Final Countdown!” (If you want to listen and bang your head to this awesome song after reading this blog post, you should click on the picture of the Rock Band,  “Europe”)

Senior Resume Review Day

Tuesday, April 12th, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., 116 Ag. Hall

Are you a senior soon to graduate? To help you prepare for your life after graduation, come to 116 Ag. Hall and get your resume critiqued.  You will be better preparedd to apply and interview for jobs that are of interest to you.

CALS Lab Fair

Wednesday, April 13th, 1 – 4 p.m., Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery

We have invited campus labs to have a table to offer you literature about their research, display posters of
ongoing projects and accept resumes for student lab assistants – paid and unpaid. This event will be a way for students to explore lab opportunities, learn about the research process and hand out a few resumes.  It allows you to go beyond the “Student Jobcenter” or mass email approach and have a chance to meet researchers one-on-one.

Securing an Internship or Full-Time Job: A Review of CALS Career Services

Thursday, April 14th, 1:20 – 2:15 p.m., 354 Ag. Hall

Join CALS Career Services as we dive into the basics of securing an internship or full-time job NOW. We’ll
cover resume tips, cover letter do’s and don’ts, interviewing, BuckyNet and other search engines. This session is designed to provide students with the bare essentials to find an opportunity before the end of the semester.

International Internships

Wednesday, April 27th, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., 2301 Microbial Sciences Building

Imagine traveling to another country and working as an intern.  Erica Barts and Laura Van Toll will talk about the many international internships available to you. Learn about the importance an international internship has on your career development.
