Budget update from Dean Molly Jahn

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

As you have heard, the Governor has announced an additional $1.6 billion budget shortfall. Governor Doyle plans to meet with UW System chancellors on Friday, May 15 to discuss the current budget situation and its potential impact. We do not yet have any specific information at this time as to how this shortfall will affect CALS. We will post additional information and answers to frequently asked questions as soon as they become available on the CALS budget web page http://www.cals.wisc.edu/budget/. We recognize this situation creates significant anxiety and confusion. We join our university leadership in our commitment to address your concerns and questions as quickly as possible.

CALS announces deadline (Feb. 27) and process for proposing faculty positions

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

In 2007-2008, our Academic Planning Council and Administrative Team went through an extensive faculty position proposal process. However, we recognize that departments may wish to provide updated or revised position proposals in this year’s process, or replace proposals from last year with new proposals this year. To that end, this memo summarizes the process by which we are soliciting position proposals this winter. (more…)

CALS forum highlights college’s relevance, accomplishments and challenges

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Faculty, staff and friends of the college gathered in Agricultural Hall Oct. 7 to listen to Dean Molly Jahn deliver her annual All College Forum address. Dean Jahn began with a video that emphasized that the college’s four themes — food, environment, health and energy — are very much on the public agenda. The video featuring recent news clips focused on those subject areas. You can view that video, as well as hear Dean’s Jahn’s remarks and see the accompanying slide show, by following the links below.
