In Memoriam: Charles F. Koval

Charles F. Koval died on Monday, August 3 at the age of 71. An Emeritus Professor of Entomology, he had served as department chair, director of the college’s Agricultural Research Stations, and Dean of Cooperative Extension. His obituary is posted online here.

In memoriam: Elwood A. Brickbauer

Elwood Brickbauer was employed by the University of Wisconsin for more than 34 years in the Extension Service. Elwood received his Bachelors degree in agricultural education and his Masters degree in agronomy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In memoriam: Bruce Marsh

Bruce Marsh, Professor Emeritus of Animal Sciences and longtime director of the Meat and Muscle Biology Laboratory, died peacefully on May 10 at Meriter Hospital after extensive health complications beyond the controls of his medical team and despite the terrific battle Bruce gave in trying to conquer the illness. In memoriam: Teddy E. Morelock

Teddy E. Morelock, university professor of horticulture, 65, died April 18 in Fayetteville. Morelock had earned his Ph.D. in horticulture and genetics at UW-Madison and was well-known in the plant breeding community. In memoriam: Robert Hougas, emeritus professor and associate dean

Robert W. Hougas, an emeritus professor of genetics and horticulture and associate dean of CALS who twice served as acting dean, died Feb. 13 at the age of 90. Hougas was internationally known for his research in hybridizing wild and cultivated potatoes. Before his administrative appointment, he was leader of the National Potato Germplasm Program, a cooperative effort of USDA and Agricultural Experiment Stations in all 50 states. (more…)

Beatrice Elizabeth Donaldson David, passed away at age 96 on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. She retired as professor emeritus in the Department of Food Science in 1978.

In memoriam: poultry scientist W. Windsor Cravens

W. Windsor Cravens died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 at the age of 93. Cravens received his PhD in Poultry Science from UW in 1940 and was a professor of poultry science for 13 years, after which he left for private industry. Milt Sunde was one of his graduate students. Members of the Campus Community: I have the sad task of informing you that our colleague, Steven Clark, Assistant Dean and Director of Diversity Affairs in the College of Engineering, passed away unexpectedly at his home last night (Oct. 13). Steve has been an energetic force for change in the College of Engineering and across the campus and we will miss his positive outlook and his enthusiasm for his work.
