New workplace Spanish class offered

The Office of Human Resource Development is offering the course “Spanish for Workplace for Managers and Supervisors” for free. The course will be taught by Antonio Noguera, PhD, from the Department of LiberalStudies and the Arts, with the assistance of Cultural Linguistic Services. It will be offered twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 - 12:00 pm., for five weeks total, starting on May 27 until June 26. (more…)

Electronic copies of leave statements and reports will be available at My UW

In addition to the paper copy, electronic copies of leave statements and reports will be available at My UW. Look for these copies a few days before payday. You can either print and complete the leave report from here if you choose; or you can complete the yellow paper leave report that will be mailed.

Federal Worker Protection Standard (WPS) training offered for CALS faculty, staff and students on April 29 and May 22

The Federal Worker Protection Standard for Agricultural Pesticides requires employers provide training for all employees at risk to potential exposure to pesticides. This spring Roger Flashinski, UW Pesticide Applicator Training Coordinator, will conduct WPS training sessions on April 29 and May 22 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in Rm 108 Plant Sciences. This training is required every five years for all CALS faculty, staff and students who are involved with crop or grazing research at our agricultural research stations and are not already certified to apply pesticides. In addition, separate WPS training is required for all CALS faculty, staff and students, working at our campus greenhouses. This training is conducted by Ag Research Station Greenhouse personnel. Submit Academic Staff Promotion Reviews by April 4

This is a reminder that the Mandatory Review for Academic Staff Promotion report needs to be submitted to the CALS HR Office no later than April 4, 2008. This request went out only to departments or centers that had individuals, which meet the criteria to be considered for mandatory promotion, at this time. Discretionary Compensation Adjustment requests can be submitted online

Discretionary Compensation Adjustment requests for classified non-represented employees may now be submitted electronically. The website is https://www.ohr.wisc.edu/dca/. Anyone with a NetID can log-in to submit a DCA request for either a base building (per hour increase) or a lump sum payment for compensation of new duties, increased significant competencies, merit/performance, pay equity, or retention. Major change in health insurance premiums for classified employees

Academic Staff Professional Development Grant proposals due March 7

The Academic Staff Professional Development Grant Program, authorized by the Board of Regents, sponsored and administered by UW-Madison, is being offered for all UW-Madison academic staff members who hold at least a 50 percent appointment. UW-Madison has committed to paying LTE employees a Living Wage as defined by the City of Madison. Effective January 1st, 2008, the rate of $10.92 has been identified by the City as the new Living Wage. (more…)
