NIH Public Access Policy Information Session

In accordance with Division G, Title II, Section 218 of PL 110-161 (Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008 ), the NIH voluntary Public Access Policy (NOT-OD-05-022) is now mandatory. Get your course reserve requests to Steenbock library right away

Steenbock Library reminds you that course reserve requests must be submitted by December 20, 2007 to guarantee that everything will be available for your students by the first day of spring semester classes. Requests submitted after that date will be processed in the order received. In general, items requested between Dec. 21 and February 1 will be processed in about two weeks. When the “rush” lets up in about the third week of the semester, turnaround time is shorter. (more…)

Dissertation Calculator helps students and advisors with planning process

UW-Madison ranks high in stem cell research citations

Thomson ISI, the company behind Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports, has just released Essential Science Indicators Special Topic: Stem Cells. According to this international analysis, UW Madison ranks 7th in the “Institutions” category when the data is sorted by total number of citations to its stem cell research articles. (more…)

Steenbock journal assessment and proposed journal cancellations

Journal prices continue to increase rapidly, but Steenbock library does not receive an annual increase to its acquisitions budget. Therefore we must reduce our anticipated journal expenditures for next year by about $45,000. To do this, we plan to discontinue about 70 print subscriptions for which the publishers online version is available to you. This will save us about $22,000 annually. (more…)
