The Molecular Biosciences Training Grant (MBTG) program enhances training opportunities available to graduate students within the many excellent Ph.D. programs in cellular, biochemical and molecular sciences at UW-Madison. Most MBTG trainees are enrolled in one of three nationally recognized Ph.D. programs: the Integrated Program in Biochemistry (IPiB), Cellular and Molecular Biology (CMB), and the Microbiology Doctoral Training Program (MDTP). The MBTG program uses resources supplied by the NIH to provide unique interdepartmental and interdisciplinary experiences that build upon the strong foundations provided by each of these Ph.D. programs. MBTG benefits include expanded laboratory rotation opportunities and thesis lab choices, grants for travel to professional meetings, and up to 3 years of stipend support. MBTG traineeships are awarded through a competition based on nominations put forward by the participating Ph.D. programs – no separate MBTG application is required for considera
