Richard earned his B.S. in Biochemistry (’74) and has risen to the Executive Vice President for Research at Genetech, Inc. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics in the School of Medicine at the University of California-San Francisco. He is most known for his work with recombinant DNA technology, and his scholarly contributions have been recognized by numerous honors.
