General Contacts

External Relations Staff

Michael Penn, Interim Assistant Dean for External Relations, assists the Dean and his administrative team in building relationships with stakeholders in the private and public sector. He also takes the lead in developing the college's communications strategy and overseeing efforts to carry it out.

 
Rebecca Bock, University Services Associate, handles a variety of administrative support tasks, including purchasing, scheduling, contact management and supervising student workers.

News and media relations

Bob Mitchell, News Manager, writes about CALS activities in the areas of natural resources, social sciences and agriculture. He also serves as media contact and distributes faculty and staff news via the eCALS newsletter and the CALS faculty/staff  web pages.

Sevie Kenyon, Writer/Editor, writes about college activities, focusing primarily on agriculture, and coordinates coverage of CALS in agricultural media. He also produces podcasts and videos for CALS web sites, events and presentations and other venues.

Nicole Miller, Writer/Editor, writes articles on CALS activities, focusing on life sciences, health, food and nutrition. She maintains news content on the main CALS web page and the CALS News page, posts CALS content for social networking sites (Facebook and Twitter), and serves as a contact for media.

Publications

Joan Fischer — Publications Manager, serves as editor of Grow, the CALS alumni magazine, edits a monthly electronic alumni newsletter, and manages and edits a variety of special projects, including research reports and communications to specific industries with which the college interacts.

Diane Doering — Graphic Designer, designs Grow magazine. and other CALS publications and identify materials, ranging from folders to banners to student recruiting brochures. She generally doesn’t take on projects for individual departments but is available for consultation.

Wolfgang Hoffmann, Photographer, takes most of the photos for Grow magazine as well as for other CALS print and electronic media. He maintains a file of thousands of CALS images he has created over the past four decades.
 
 
 

Vidal Quevedo — Web Developer, develops strategies for using online tools to help CALS meet its communication goals. He built and maintains the main CALS website, the CALS news site and eCALS. He also consults with web developers in CALS departments.

 
 

Events and stakeholder relations

Arla Dauscher — Outreach Specialist, manages CALS external events and provides the Dean and the CALS leadership team with background information to help them work effectively with stakeholders, including commodity groups, corporate contacts and alumni and other supporters.
