Why Use Feedback Manager?
Asking questions that require students to express themselves in writing gives both students and instructors important information about what students understand. However, providing written feedback to handwritten responses often involves writing the same feedback over and over, so it can become laborious in large classes. Feedback Manager allows the instructor to craft a feedback response that can be used for multiple student responses when it is relevant.
In addition to the learning that occurs from writing and from receiving feedback, the e-mailed feedback from the instructor shows students that the instructor cares enough to read and respond to them. This addresses one of the problems of large classes: that the student’s interaction with the instructor is limited and impersonal. The Feedback Manager makes a more personal interaction possible. The amount of work required of the instructor can be comparable to reading and providing written feedback to handwritten student responses, or it can be less, depending on the implementation method chosen.
