The science curriculum at the College of Agricultural
and Life Sciences covers a broad spectrum of topics related to
food and agriculture, biology and biotechnology, natural resources
and rural issues.
The College's undergraduate enrollment is largest of Wisconsin's
agricultural colleges and, combined with graduate enrollment,
is seventh largest of agricultural colleges. The academic achievements
of CALS students are among the highest on the UW-Madison campus
and exceed averages in similar UWSystem colleges. The college
has awarded more Ph.D. degrees in agricultural and related sciences
than any other U.S. agricultural college. CALS undergraduates
enjoy the benefits of a small college (for example, individual
faculty advisors, mostly small classes, and nearly all classes
taught by professors) as well as the curriculum breadth and depth
of a large, highly regarded research university on the cutting
edge of new knowledge.
