Extension and Outreach

Transferring Information from the University to the Public

Through outreach activities, faculty in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences use research results from the laboratory and apply them to problems facing Wisconsin citizens. Outreach gives substance to the Wisconsin Idea, that the boundaries of the campus are the boundaries of the state. All CALS faculty are expected to engage in outreach as appropriate to their research specialties. About a third have explicit, planned outreach responsibilities in the form of budgeted extension appointments through Cooperative Extension, UW Extension.
