Grants.gov is the Federal government's intitial solution for a "one stop shop" for finding and applying for funding. Eventually all federal proposals will be submitted through grants.gov. The initial rollout of grants.gov required use of the PureEdge application to make submissions. The UW has since purchased Cayuse424, a web-based system that is much easier to use than PureEdge. Cayuse currently supports all NIH and many USDA proposals. The addition of NSF is expected at any time.
When submitting applications using Grants.gov, submit early. There frequently are system problems and bandwidth issues at the agencies at major deadlines. If you submit on the day the proposal is due, chances are we will be unable to complete your submission. Try to get your application to CALS research 2 weeks prior to the the due date.
