In 2000, a Diversity Sub-Committee to the CALS Equity and Diversity Council was created. This group meets each semester, and the charge is to have a body of faculty, staff, and students come together to share ideas, work to improve minority student recruitment and retention within CALS, and work together to improve the diversity climate within the College. This group of faculty and staff, is dedicated to improving the climate of CALS, by discussing, enacting, and strengthening issues of equity and diversity among faculty, staff, and student. Equity and Diversity committees have been established in every school, college and administrative division on campus, to implement and monitor diversity initiatives and supplement campus-wide standing committees.
In the end, the ability to institute change will come from classroom and one-on-one interactions among faculty, staff, students, and colleagues. For more information, contact the Minority Student Coordinator.
