Become a better leader through the CALS Leadership Seminar! (Interdisciplinary 375)

A great course for students obtaining the Leadership Certificate and for any student interested in developing their leadership skills!

What is the Leadership Seminar:
  • A bi-weekly one-credit course designed to expose students to the content and ideas that are central to: developing leadership skills and to earning the College's Leadership Certificate

Why Take the Leadership Seminar:
  • Get a chance to learn about leadership through readings, guest lecturers, class discussions and self-reflection
  • Take advantage of a great opportunity to work through many of the Leadership Certificate's competencies
  • Each reflection assignment for the course offers a Leadership Certificate suggestion that will help bring students closer to meeting the standards of a competency

Objectives of the Leadership Seminar:
  • Describe various philosophies and develop your own perspectives on leadership
  • Gain self-awareness of your current leadership competencies and your areas for growth
  • Develop ideas for analyzing and responding to ethical issues
  • Gain understanding of organizational and group dynamics
  • Identify and apply the behaviors and skills for effectively managing and leading organizations and communities
