CALS Leadership Certificate

How or where will I learn?

You can learn about the content in the certificate in tons of different ways. In fact, some of the experiences you have already had, or plan to have, in college probably qualify. Consider some of the following as you think about where and how you can gain the competencies required for this certificate:

Academic courses required for your major
Retreats you have attend
Elective courses
Internships
Lab or research experiences
Your capstone
Jobs you have held
Service-learning courses
Volunteer experiences
Seminars or workshops you attend
Projects you work on or manage
Books or articles you read
Self assessments you take
Feedback you receive from others
Student orgs you get involved with
Committees you become a member of
Professional activities you attend
Community issues you think about
Presentations you give
Studying abroad

There are probably a lot of things you have already done or are planning to do that will help you earn this certificate. Add some serious thought, self-reflection, and some interactions with a Mentor to those experiences and you will be doing exactly what it takes!

In case you are still unsure about where you can do this learning, CALS faculty and staff have generated a list which identifies some of the many hundreds of things that you might do to gain the knowledge and experience. Specific suggestions are listed in the Student Handbook.
