How to Sign Up
If you're ready to enroll in the Certificate program, follow these steps:
- Print and fill out the Intent to Earn the CALS Leadership Certificate form.
- Come to 116 Ag Hall and receive the name of your leadership mentor from a list of CALS faculty and staff who have volunteered to serve (if there is a CALS faculty or staff person you would like to have as your mentor who is not on our list of volunteers, we can talk with you about that).
- Visit the potential mentor to be sure you both agree to the mentoring relationship. Have the mentor sign your Intent form.
- Visit your advisor, tell him/her what you intend to do, and ask him/her to sign your Intent form. You might ask them to read the Information for Advisors handout which is accessible on the web.
- Return the signed form to 116 Ag Hall. This will get you formally “enrolled” in the certificate program.
Note: You must be in the Program (i.e., have declared your intent to pursue the Certificate and be in contact with a Leadership mentor) for at least one semester in order to earn the Certificate. Even though you could meet many of the competencies without the help of a mentor, there is great value in talking with your mentor about the competencies, your experiences and how your experiences tie the concepts together.
