Are you interested in operating your own farm or running an agriculture business but do not want to commit to a four-year college degree program?
A wise alternative is the Farm and Industry Short Course offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
The Farm and Industry Short Course is a 17-week educational program uniquely designed to prepare students for exciting careers in agriculture. You can choose from over 40 courses in the areas of soils, crops, poultry, dairy, meat animals and general livestock, horticulture, agricultural engineering, agricultural economics, human relations and communications. You do not need to specialize or major in any particular area and can choose those courses that are of greatest interest and value to you. If you wish to focus on a specific topic, seven specialty programs are offered.
Many students pursue internships with a wide variety of agri-business firms, farms and government agencies. This experience is worth 2 credits toward a two-year certificate.
Two well-equipped residence halls are available for Short Course students. The halls provide a comfortable home for students which on campus and a convenient location close to classes and other necessities.
