Welcome...
The demonstration and trial gardens were implemented in 1994 to test heirloom (old and open pollinated plants) and new cultivars of flowers, vegetables, and fruit for both the commercial niche market, home garden, and landscape use. University of Wisconsin researchers are working to determine the plants that perform best in the climate found in Southwest Wisconsin. The scope of their research continues to expand each year.

Please visit our Field Day site to find information on Family Horticulture Field Day, Urban Horticulture Field day and Evening Walks-in-the-Garden with Extension Experts.

Three research projects are continuing for the summer of 2007. Researchers will be evaluating table grape cultivars, new selections of raspberries and chrysanthemums for winter hardiness and disease resistance and new 2007 releases of annual flowers are available for viewing.

New introductions for the garden for 2007: heirloom cannas dating to as far back as 1776, Asian vegetables, unique pumpkins, international vegetable displays, and cover crops demonstration plots trial - and an apple bagging demonstration for organic apple production in the home garden!!

We will be featuring a Renew America Food Tradition (RAFT) garden.   Visit us to see what one may find in a RAFT garden!!!
