What´s ready for picking? Please Check this web page and do visit our garden for new annuals, vegetables, and perennials beginning in the spring of 2007. Join us this year in helping to evaluate the new flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Please check the mailbox near garden entrance for ballots. We appreciate your assistance in participating in the yearly evaluations. Check out the large collection of heirloom tomatoes - pamphlet available with history of each selection. Favorite annuals of staff this year - check them out: Cannas - Many Heirlooms, Cleome - 'Sparkler Lavender' and ' Sparkler Rose', Dianthus - 'Amazon Neon', Diascia - 'Coral Diamonte Rose', Impatiens - 'Double Fiesta Purple', LoGro Series 'Violet', Divine Series: 'Cherry Red', 'Scarlet Red', and 'White', Xtreme Series: Hot Mix, Sapphire Mix, Rosy Mix, and Tango Mix, Lantanas - 'Landmark Peach Sunrise' and Landmark Rose Improved Glow Improved, Petunias - 'Easy Wave Coral Reef', Suncatcher Plum Vein, and 'Tidal Wave Silver', Snapdragon - 'Double Azalea Bronze', Sunflower - 'Teddy Bear', 'Tohoku Yae', and the whole Pro Cut series: BiColor, Orange, Lemon, Peach, Yellow Lite; and Marigold - 'Durango Tangerine'. Favorite fruits: Gooseberries, Blueberries - ripe in July Favorite vegetables: Sweet BIG Pepper - 'Giant Marconi'; Followed closely by 5 other sweet peppers - 'Apple', 'Carmen', Corona del' Toro, 'Granny Smith', and Islander; Mild, hot peppers; Beaver Dam, and 'Mariachi', and Eggplants - 'Kermit' and 'Turkish Orange', and Tomatoes: - 'Amish Paste', 'Banana Legs', 'Golden Sweet', 'Orange Blossom', 'Sioux', and 'Glacier". And don't forget the Turnips: 'Scarlet Queen Green Stems' and Scarlet Queen Red Stems'. Favorite herbs: Basils - 8 selections including: Asian Basil - "Langkuri" Favorite perennials/biennials: Buddleia (Butterfly Bush) - ' Nanho Purple'', and Verbascum - 'Southern Charm', and many of the new winter hardy Chrysanthemums. Check out the new Shade Garden: native perennials and hybrid selections. Check out our easy care perennial bed designed and implemented by a master gardener of Dane County. This bed changes a little every year, so check back to see the new additions................. Watch for new annuals, perennials and of course lots of peppers and tomatoes in the summer 2007 garden trials.
